Aesthetic Responses: Creating with the Fruits of the Spirit

A reflective and hands-on gathering hosted by Maphutse Studio (Malebona Maphutse) and Uncommon Voices Collective, where creativity meets emotion and faith.

What does it look like to practice love, joy, peace, patience — not just believe in them? In this guided session, we’ll slow down, reflect, and create as a way of tending to the Fruit of the Spirit we most need right now.

We’ll begin with a short devotional and SEL journaling prompt. From there, you’ll move into a hands-on creative practice — using color, shape, collage, and intuitive mark-making — to visually express your reflections.

Each participant will create their own mini zine — a small, self-published booklet capturing their reflections and visual responses. We’ll then duplicate and collate the individual zines into a shared collection, forming a collective archive of our emotional and spiritual insights.

We’ll close with a gentle sharing circle and blessing, honoring creativity as a form of faith, emotional awareness, and care.

No art experience needed — just an open heart. A

ll materials provided. Come ready to reflect, create, and grow 🌿
